Hello Mark,
This is Zach Oren I was the kid from Maine that you put the custom
footbeds in my boots in February. Sorry it took me a while to respond,
but I wanted to really figure them out. Here is what I have observed. I
can generate more edge pressure without having to roll onto the ski
harder. In other words I can get the ski to bend more with less energy.
This leads to faster and more efficient carving. It is simply easier to
initate turns. It is also easier to renegotiage carves if required to do
so. I have also noticed with the harder foot bed you get better feeling
in the boot, especially with the GS skis that are much softer than
slalom skis. On that note I get bigger gains from the foot bed in a GS
ski than a slalom ski, because of the energy required to get the ski to
carve. And that GS turns are much longer. That being said I also noticeI
ski less with the cuff of the boot and more with the whole boot working
together. I think this may make me less tired at the end of the day
which you said would be the case. Lastly, my heels are a lot more
comfortable, but still locked in so I can drive the ski.

Kevin and Staff,
Can't tell you how much I appreciate your expertise in purchasing our new kayak.
We purchased an Elie Sound 120 on Friday.
We put in water yesterday and what a blast!
Don't know if I would have had the courage to make such an important purchase
without your help.
